Wildfires in China and Southeastern Russia

On October 18, 2001, MODIS detected several fires (red dots) burning in eastern Russia (far right) and northeastern China (center). Adjacent to the fires are several large, dark brown burn scars. The body of water at right is the Sea of Japan.
