SeaWiFS: Fires in New South Wales

This SeaWiFS view of the smoke from the fires in New South Wales was collected on December 26, 2001. The smoke is drifting eastward and then southeastward across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand under the influence of a low pressure system. The center of this system can be seen in the clockwise spiral of clouds to the southeast of Tasmania.
