SeaWiFS: Mississippi Sediments in the Gulf of Mexico

This SeaWiFS image collected on January 15, 2002 clearly shows the discharge from the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico. In summertime, much of the sea floor under the brownish colored water goes without dissolved oxygen.
