Dust and pollution in China

Large quantities of dust and other air pollutants can be seen blowing east off of China's mainland into the Bo Hai sea. A number of fires are also visible in the image (depicted as red dots) to the upper right, the middle, and the lower middle. It is also possible to see the large city of Beijing (upper middle) in the higher resolution images. This true-color MODIS image was acquired March 20, 2002.
