Fires in Central America

This image shows smoke and fires (red pixels) observed by the Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA's Terra satellite. Possibly hundreds of small fires are scattered across Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
