Fires in the Amur Region, Eastern Russia

Large fires (red dots) and burn scars are visible in this true-color MODIS image from May 16, 2002. The fires are burning in the Amur River region in eastern Russia--a highly agricultural region. These fires have likely been set to assist in cultivation of the land.
