Smoke around the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia

Southwest of the Kamchatka Peninsula (top center) in northeastern Russia, smoke from forest fires raging across Siberia is drifting out over the Sea of Okhotsk (lower right). The fires have been burning for over a month. This image was acquired on May 21, 2002.
