Greenland North Coast and Ellesmere Island, North Canada

A thin crack in the ice along Ellesmere Island.s Arctic Ocean coastline (upper left) isn't the only sign that spring is bringing warmer temperatures to the North. The sea ice that packs into Baffin Bay (bottom) and the Nares Strait between Greenland (right) and Canada (left) is melting as well. This image was acquired by MODIS on May 29, 2002.
