Caspian Sea

This MODIS image from May 28, 2002, shows the Caspian Sea in Western Asia. In the north, the Sea is clouded with what is likely a mixture of sediment, organic matter, and phytotplankton. At the bottom, sun glint washes out the dark blue of the sea.
