Smoke from Mato Grosso fires off Rio de Janeiro

Smoke from fires in the Mato Grosso region of Brazil (out of scene at upper left) is drifting southeastward and reaching out to the Atlantic Ocean over Rio de Janeiro (gray cluster of pixels southeast of image center.) This MODIS image was acquired June 7, 2002.
