Southernmost Brazil

This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from June 14, 2002, shows southernmost Brazil and the northern corner of Uruguay. In Brazil, the muddy Rio Jacui empties into a large salt water lagoon called Lago dos Patos. Just peeking out from behind the clouds where the river enters is a grayish cluster of pixels that marks the location of the city of Porto Alegre. know
