Australia Northwest Coast

This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from June 26, 2002, shows the northwest part of Australia, in Western Australia. Along the coast, a smooth white strip with bright coastal waters is Eighty Mile Beach. At lower left in the image are the Hamersley Range and Chichester Range Mountains. At lower right is the salty reflection from seasonal Lake Disappointment. At upper right, heavy sediment, probably due to tidal effects is turning King Sound tan.
