Typhoon Chataan (08W) south of Japan

This true-color MODIS image from July 7, 2002, shows Typhoon Chataan south of Japan. Chataan brought heavy rains and flooding to the region, and was responsible for dozens of deaths in Indonesia and the Phillipines.
