Fires in Queensland, Australia

On the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland, Australia, numerous large fires were detected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on the Aqua satellite on October 19, 2002. Burn scars are especially prominent on the western half of the Peninsula as dark brown patches against the dun-colored landscape.
