United States West Coast

This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image shows the northwestern United States. Forested mountains dominate the Pacific Coast from Washington (top) through Oregon and California to the south. At bottom right is Nevada and to its north, Idaho. The terrain of Nevada is dominated buy by the Great Basin region of the U.S., and area of semi-desert in the shadow of the rain-trapping mountains to the west.
