Just before the onset of spring, the Northeast U.S. was still blanketed with snow. At top left, the St. Lawrence River cuts a blue ribbon through ice and snow in southeastern Quebec province in Canada. At upper right is New Brunswick. Moving southwestward in a diagonal line are Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. South of Vermont and New Hampshire are Massachusetts (top) and Connecticut and Rhode Island (bottom left and right). This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) from the Terra satellite was captured on March 19, 2003.
