Dust storm in Taklimakan Desert, Western China

Vegetation growing along the paths of rivers in the Taklimakan Desert in northwest China are being obscured by a cloud of dust sweeping over the region in this Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the Aqua satellite on August 13, 2003.
